Key Details:
- Compensation: $19.25 – $22.50/ hour
- Housing: Housing Reimbursement of up to $600 will be provided for non-local applicants

- Additional Details: Technician must be equipped with and provide own suitable footwear (rugged hiking boots, etc.), clothing, and binoculars. A truck and vehicle safety kit will be provided.
Job Summary:
WEST is looking for candidates to reside in or near Springfield, CO to conduct avian use surveys. Surveys will be conducted in remote locations north of Springfield.
A successful candidate must be able to work in rural field setting, work well both independently and with others, follow field and data collection protocols, and be familiar identifying western bird species. Specific training in survey protocol and data collection will be provided. An average work week will be approximately 30-40 hours per week.
- An independent self-motivated individual who is skilled in bird identification and has previous experience conducting avian use surveys.
- The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in various (extreme) weather conditions and terrains and have a passion for the outdoors.
- Candidate will be comfortable working in rural field setting independently while maintaining daily communication with supervisors
- Candidate must be able to follow field and data collection protocol and submit data in a timely manner
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct avian use surveys and other seasonal wildlife surveys
- Detailed data collection including the use of paper datasheets
- Data review and timely submission of datasheets
- Field navigation and travel on rural roads to record data
- Working outdoors in a range of weather conditions
