Key Details:
- Compensation: $22 – 25/hr. commensurate with experience
- Start Date: May 1, 2025
- End Date: At least through March 2026, with the possibility of work through March 2027
- Location: Idaho Falls, Idaho
- Additional Details: Vehicle will be provided or mileage reimbursed. Tablets and other field equipment will be provided by WEST; however, field technicians must be equipped with suitable footwear (rugged hiking boots).
Job Summary:
The primary responsibilities of this position are:
- To conduct standardized searches for bird and bat carcasses beneath wind turbines.
- Successful candidates must be able to work in a rural field setting, work well both independently and with others, and follow field and data entry protocols.
- Previous experience conducting carcass searches is preferred.
- Training will be provided.
- An average workweek will be approximately 30-40 hours, though there may be weeks requiring shorter or longer hours depending on seasonal objectives.
Responsibilities include:
- Standardized fatality searches
- Standardized protocols to measure sources of bias in fatality surveys
- Potential opportunities to conduct additional biological surveys
